Well Hello, Weekend!

For those of you who don't know me, I'm Rebecca. I'm married with three kids ages 8,6, and 3. We just found out several weeks ago that we're expecting number 4. This is my first post here at Healthy Habits, and I'm excited about contributing. (Thanks, Michal!) I don't know about the rest of you, but I love this blog and sooo need accountability!

It's Friday, and we're heading into the weekend. For our family, that means no set schedule. My husband James has just finished up his finals, so maybe he will get to relax and sleep. I try to catch up on other things when James is home. But nothing is routine on the weekends.

I don't tend to cook regular meals, it's kind of a "grab whatever you can" kind of thing. I also let the kids stay up late (hoping they'll sleep late the next morning!), then watch a movie with James. It's easy to let my goals of scripture reading and exercising go. I mean, why do that when I can spend time with my husband?

But if I tried to organize my weekend a little better, maybe I'd enjoy it more. Maybe I'd get my regular goals to fit into the weekend as well. So, here are my goals for this weekend:

Cook at least two decent dinners instead of slapped-together sandwiches
Read my scriptures before I go to sleep no matter how late I stay up (and try to get to bed before midnight!)
Have the children's church clothes ready on Saturday so that I'm not running around insane Sunday morning
Exercise at least once, morning sickness permitting.

There. I've said it, now I have to do it.

What are your weekend goals? Since I'm posting here on the weekend and on Monday, I have motivation to accomplish them. Anyone want to join me?

Feel free to comment on how you're doing. If you're accomplishing your goals, great! We're proud of you! If you need encouragement, that's what we're all here for! I know I need lots of encouragement. :)

Ready for the weekend? Ready, set, go!

I'm going to join you in your weekend goals. I think it will be good for me.

As for my other goals:
I only ate out once this week (YAY!)
I have kept up faithfully on my scripture reading and I really can't even begin to tell you the difference it has been making in my life. I am finding it easier and easier to stop bad habits and do better things.
I have totally bombed on getting out of the house (besides errands). It is the rainy season so it is hard to feel motivated. I either need to step up to the plate on this or change my goal.

oh, rebecca, i could kiss you. thanks for posting. my weekend is crazy and not-routine either. luckily this weekend isn't full of christmas parties and busy appointments (like last weekend and next weekend.) i am trying to get all of my wrapping finished and get my shipping done for christmas.

how are my goals coming? i am seriously considering altering them right now. especially the exercise. i had a terrible cold this week and didn't exercise once. but i think that having a goal of 5x a week right now makes it too easy to blow off completely. what do you think, gang? would i be lame to have a goal for 3-5x a week? maybe i could think of a special reward to give myself on the weeks that i hit five times. or is it a cop out to adjust my goals at this point? give me some feedback, y'all!

Congratulations on your new news! How fun.

I'm doing great on my scripture reading but horribly on exercising.
Although-my son has been helping me...he had this new obsession with the stroller which is sitting in the living room. He'll just go sit in it and say bye bye. So, I throw on my tennis shoes and we walk around the block 3 times to appease him.
That counts as exercise, right?

My Ice Cream Diary: Great work! And if a goal is too hard, it may be time to change it or break it up in smaller pieces.

Michal: You're welcome! I knew I needed to post or I would accomplish nothing. I don't think it's a bad thing at all to change your goals. Sometimes you don't know what is feasible until you try. I don't see why you can't tweak them, then build on them as you go.

Erika: Walking around the block counts as exercise in my book!

My exercise hasn't happened yet, morning sickness has helped with that. I'm going to try before bed. Didn't get my scriptures read last night, was up talking with James about an important issue until the wee hours of the morning, then I passed out. No excuses tonight. I did go shopping today, but didn't cook dinner as I was in bed feeling yucky. I do have my two meals planned for tomorrow though, so I should meet that goal! Without you guys I would have nothing accomplished this weekend. Now I feel like at least a tiny bit will get accomplished.

Maybe I can get in one Dance Dance Revolution song before I go to bed.

Ok, I have successfully fallen off the wagon this weekend. Hard. A Relief Society party, a ward breakfast with Santa, and then a boat parade with friends at the local town lake--complete with chex muddie buddies and krispie treats--have completed my fall.

Oh, and the pancakes I made for breakfast this morning at the request of my husband.

So, to get back ahold of my goal of staying in my WW points I vow to eat fruits and veggies for the rest of the day. (Well, dinner may include a little meat, too.) And drink lots of water. Weekends are hard for me to get enough water.

I hope evyone else is having a better weekend than me! :)

Aubrey, how did it go eating only fruits and veggies for the rest of the day? I'm so proud of you that you are so close to goal. That's wonderful.

I'm going to go ahead and change my goal for exercise. You'll see the change in the side bar. Thanks for making me feel okay about it, Rebecca!

Aubrey, I really do think it's all about regrouping!

Michal, no problem!
