Day 4--Thursday

As most of us struggle with temperance (and it's companion, patience,) I decided to study the topic a bit on GospeLink.com. I loved these words on developing temperance in our lives:

Christ's life was one of inner discipline. He said, "strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it." ( Matt. 7:14) A loose, meandering life, that drifts along with easy social habits of intemperance is no way to an abundant life-it leads to ruin. "Â…Wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat." ( Matt. 7:13)

Self-discipline is the price of character, and it is the price of nearly everything worthwhile — our democracy, a lovely home, vocational success, worthwhile friends, and devotion to the Church.

Christ would therefore say something like this to us: "If you are going to enter the gate that leadeth unto life, you can't follow every vagrant impulse. You will have to organize your values and then you will have to discipline yourself."

--Obert C. Tanner, from Christ's Ideals for Living

So just remember that the work required in achieving our goals is worth it.

I'm starting to slack. I was scheduled to excersize today but I didn't because I'm lazy. So to meet my goal of 3 times per week I'll have to go out running tomorrow morning. Vegetables. . check, treat. . .check, scriptures. . .check. Goodnight.

i peeled myself out of bed this morning at 5:00 for spin class. i confess i would have quickly returned to said bed if it were not for the instructor/friend who was picking me up. so, i got in an hour of exercise.
i did get in my fruits and veggies as well.
i am off to read my scriptures now.
i need to stay committed to these goals through the weekend, which is hard for me. when i'm out of my routine, i tend to drop all of my good habits. ugh.
