Days 5-7 The Weekend

We are now entering the weekend. I'll admit that my weekend starts earlier than most because my husband closes his office on Fridays. Sometimes he still sees patients, participates in Chamber of Commerce activities, or markets himself, but lots of times he's around. It's also not a routine school day for us. Jared usually teaches "Science Friday" and then we try to get done anything that I had planned for the week that hasn't happened yet. (Today we are making "silver" Persian plates and etching them with toothpicks, for instance. I wish we could visit Christine in Istanbul for a little field trip.) The point is that my Fridays and Saturdays are not very routine. And that makes it harder for me to stick to my goals and habits.

Does anyone else struggle with their habits on the weekends? Any thoughts on how we can get through this? I mean, since the weekend comes up every seven days, it would be handy if we figured out how to be masters over it, rather than letting the lack-of-routine days ruin our healthy selves week after week. Fill me in on strategies that you use. And let us know how the week is going for you if you haven't been updating us daily.

Oh...we started! I read your post and said I was in and then promptly forgot about it! Actually I didn't really forget, it was in the back of my mind, but I haven't been on the blogs lately. Anyway...I didn't do very well--yet! I did read my scriptures every day except one and I rode my bike yesterday. And I crashed on my bike yesterday! As for eating...

Now that I've seen this blog for myself, I will perservere!

friday was not my best day so far in terms of my goals. i did eat my fruits and vegetables, and my food choices were good. i did not go exercise--i was potty training all day and didn't want to leave the house, although i could have done yoga in the living room. i also did not get any personal scripture study done, although i did read with jared before bed. i commit that i will do better today.

Scripture reading and extra fruits and veggies are going well, but the weather has put a damper on our service plans. Anyone have any great service ideas with kids?

Mommy of three, picking up trash is always an available option. Sometimes I do that with my three.

I'm a slacker! I didn't even try to be good this weekend. Friday night I dove into my premeditated treat bucket, Saturday hasn't been much better. Scripture study is bad, real bad. Fruits and veggies are about the only thing I can boast success on. What can I say? I really need to prepare some kind of motivating award for myself. Anyone want to help me out? I'll pay for the reward, all you have to do it buy it(with my money), package it, address it, and send it to me after a week of perfect performance.

christine,a reward is a great idea. i am postally challenged, but i'll do my best to send you whatever reward you are missing from the u.s. of a. just post a comment about it and i'll buy it and send it when you've earned it!:)

and mommy of three, i'm with christine. my kids love picking up trash on walks. you could also take dinner to someone or leave goodies on the door and run without getting caught.

Thanks for motivating me today to drink plenty of water and to read my scriptures. Now I just need to turn down more sugar :) !!

Getting through the weekends? I just need to remind myself that my taste buds don't need Disneyland every time they eat :) !! Why do I always feel entitled to eat yummy things in large quantities?

And by the way, am I supposed to send you a photo for your sidebar?

Friday-- scriptures, yes. 1 snack, no. exercise no.
Saturday-- 1 snack, yes. everything else, no. I took drugs, took a nap, built a fire, and was lazy. Sorry. I'll try harder next week. Hoping my cold passes.

One of my keys to getting through the weekend is to make a seperate routine for those days.

Anyway, sorry I haven't checked in, it has been a crazy crazy week. I have been reading my scriptures everyday and I can't believe the difference it has made. I have finally been able to stop watching a TV show that
I detest but love.

I did eatout twice this week, but considering the kind of week I've had I consider that a success.

I've been out a lot and I can feel the difference it makes compared to the days when I stay in, however I haven't made it to a park yet.

Ok, no joke, the word verification is "exesse." Too funny.

No on all of my goals. Just got home from a weekend trip to Utah. I hope I can do better this week.

okay, now sunday. i read the scriptures and got four servings of fruits and veggies. i don't exercise on sundays, so i guess that means i got four times in this week instead of five. but i would have been more like two without you guys to report to.

Things fall apart easliy for me on the weekend. I don't excercise on Sat usually, though I always want to on Friday night. But then saturday comes around and I never want to get up to do it. Same with scripture study. I have to get up realy early to get that in before the kiddos take over the house, so that falls by the wayside a lot.
So, I am really going to start working on those things on the weekends.
